IELTS UKVI is an IELTS test designed for students who are applying for The UK study visa through a pathway program or for someone who wishes to apply for British citizenship. IELTS UKVI has two variants – IELTS UKVI Academic and IELTS UKVI General. The below-mentioned format is of IELTS UKVI Academic

Test duration: 2 hours 41-44 minutes

Duration: 11-14 minutes

The speaking module of IELTS UKVI consists of 3 parts.

1. Introduction Section

The duration of part 1 will be 4-6 minutes.

Questions will mainly include:

  • Candidate’s name
  • Discussion about their profession or academics
  • Discussion about their city, town, and locality
  • Discussion about their likes, dislikes, and preferences

2. Cue Card Section

The candidate will be given a topic on a piece of paper or a computer screen which will contain three bullet points. The student will have to speak on the topic for 1-2 minutes and will have 1 minute to think and plan about their script.

3. Follow-up Section

The duration of this section will be 3-5 minutes

Candidates will be asked questions that are directly or indirectly related to the cue card’s topic. Students will be expected to answer in some detail in this section.

Note: UKVI IELTS speaking is the same for paper-based and computer-based IELTS. Candidates will have to physically visit the exam center where the speaking with either be conducted face-to-face or via zoom/skype on the exam center’s computer.

Duration: 30 minutes

Total Sections: 4 (each containing 10 questions)

Students will be given a statistical diagram, such as a bar chart, pie-chart, table, line graph, or map and they will have to describe it in the form of sentences and paragraphs.

Task 2: Essay Writing

Word Limit: Minimum 250 words

Duration: 40 minutes

Students will be given a topic and will be expected to express their opinion on it. A few common types of IELTS essays are:
